Mr. Goh Chok Tong, the Former Prime Minister of Singapore, Joins CMIG’s Global Top-echelon Expert “Circle of Friends”

On the afternoon of May 18, Kevin E. Lee, Executive Vice Chairman of CMIG Board of Directors, made an official visit to Mr. Goh Chok Tong, the former Prime Minister as well as Emeritus Senior Minister of Singapore in the Presidential Palace of Singapore. The two sides conducted cordial and amicable discussion and exchange about a series of topics of common concern. At the end of the discussion, Mr. Goh delightedly accepted Executive Vice Chairman Lee’s invitation to officially join CMIG Global Advisory Council (GAC) as its member.

In the course of discussion, Mr. Goh made detailed inquiries about GAC’s operation mechanism and CMIG’s recent development. He raised individual hope to provide tangible support and assistance for development of CMIG and going-global Chinese enterprises after joining GAC, which gathers a large number of global experts.

Mr. Goh applauded CMIG’s development strategy of industry-finance integration. He pointed out that the layout of CMIG’s home-based aged care industry embraces substantial growth potential, and suggested that CMIG introduce advanced experience of western aged care industries, in a bid to better create environment and conditions for China’s elderly people to enjoy in the old age.

Lee expressed sincere gratitude to Mr. Goh for his agreement to become a member of GAC. He expounded on CMIG’s layout of three industries including new energy, home-based aged care and prefabricated building, as well as three groups including insurance, releasing and asset management. Besides, he noted that CMIG’s rapid development and strategic positioning over the past two years since its inception are largely attributable to the precious suggestions GAC experts have offered.

Lee stressed, the Belt and Road (B&R) comes as a significant strategic path in CMIG’s global layout, while Singapore serves as an important member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which is considered as a critical link in the B&R Initiative. In this case, it is hoped to incessantly learn from Mr. Goh with a view to boosting CMIG’s blossoming in the ASEAN countries and along the B&R route.

Prior to conclusion of the discussion, as a representative of CMIG, Executive Vice Chairman Lee signed an agreement with Mr. Goh on the latter’s acceding to GAC, and presented souvenirs including the corporation badge of CMIG to Mr. Goh.

GAC is an international top-echelon advisory consultancy institution set up by CMIG, which now boasts 19 incumbent members including a host of major experts and politicians, such as the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz, the former President of the European Commission and the former Prime Minister of Italy Romano Prodi, the former Prime Minister of France Dominique de Villepin, as well as the 2015 Nobel Laureate for Economic Sciences Angus Deaton.

GAC, dedicated to getting together global wisdom, aims to provide intellectual support and investment guarantee for CMIG as well as “going-global” Chinese enterprises in terms of politics, finance, research and other levels. As the global think tank and “super foreign brain” of CMIG, GAC has hosted three meetings in Beijing, Singapore and Shanghai respectively so far.
