CMIG Leasing, Department of Finance of Ireland Jointly Explore Win-win Development of Aviation Leasing

CMIG Aviation Capital, a subsidiary of CMIG Leasing, has signed order contracts for 40 aircraft in 2017, 18 of which were delivered. Prioritizing the layout of airlines in countries along the “Belt and Road” initiative, it has formed the management mode of dual operation platform and sales of three major markets in China, Ireland and Singapore in the shortest possible time, and undertaken business for the global market.

CMIG President Li Huaizhen met with a delegation led by Michael D’Arcy, Minister of State at the Department of Finance and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform of Ireland in Shanghai on Jan. 12 this year. Both sides carried out in-depth exchanges over the economic development of Ireland and the future cooperation between CMIG and Ireland.

Therese Healy, Ireland's Consul General in Shanghai, Kieran Donoghue, Head of International Financial Services, IDA Ireland, and Wang Rong, Chairman and President of CMIG Leasing also attended the meeting.

President Li Huaizhen welcomed the arrival of the delegation led by Michael D’Arcy and introduced the overall development history, strategy and international layout of CMIG. He said that aviation leasing constitutes a major part of the international layout of CMIG. Boasting an excellent team of professionals, CMIG Leasing has become China’s largest helicopter leasing company in general aviation and made strong presence in the field of large commercial aircraft leasing.

CMIG Leasing Group’s Chairman and President Wang Rong said that with aviation leasing as a business development focus, we will continue to make the most of financial advantage and team strength to deploy quality assets around the world and gradually grow our aviation leasing business.

Michael D’Arcy presented Ireland's advantages in business, tax policy and geographic location. In particular, the unique competitiveness which Ireland has shown since the Brexit was indicated. He also expressed the hope that both sides can continue deepening exchanges and create more golden opportunities to give full play to their respective advantages and achieve win-win development.

Currently, the global air passenger transport market has grown into an industry with huge growth potential. Aircraft leasing has become the preferred way for airlines to introduce aircraft at present and in the future. Over 60 percent of leasing aircraft are stationed in Ireland, where nine out of the top ten aviation leasing companies have their operation headquarters based. Thus, it is no doubt that Ireland becomes the largest aircraft leasing market worldwide. Irish President Higgins previously said that Ireland is more than willing to take concrete action to actively participate in the “Belt and Road” initiative.
