On 10 September2014, the signing ceremony for China Minsheng Investment Co., Ltd. regarding the donation of a new campus to Dandelion School was held in the Dandelion School playground in Daxing District, Beijing. Dandelion middle school teachers, students and volunteers numbering more than 600 people attended the ceremony.
Yinhuan Sun, standing Committee of the CPPCC, All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce Vice-Chairman, Deputy Chairman of China Minsheng Investment Co., Ltd., Yida Group Chairman, Qingyi Huang, All-China Women’s Federation former Party Secretary, Vice-Chairman, First Secretary of the Secretariat and Director General of the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF), and other leaders attended the event. CMIG President Li Huaizhen and CWDF Secretary-General Qin Guoying signed the agreement to confirm the donation.
Acclaimed media personality Yu Sheng and Dandelion School volunteers presided over the ceremony. Dandelion School is Beijing's first non-profit school, providing junior high school compulsory education to children of migrant workers and utilizing the spirit of “in teaching is education, in education you change the world”, concept, the school has been operating for nine years. The school leadership was very stark with concerns about classroom security so the Dandelion School Council and the CWDF cooperated to raise funds and material for the rehabilitation of the school buildings. CMIG was informed of this situation and decided to donate to build a new school with expected total value of finance, material and labor to be 61 million yuan.
Chairman Sun Yinhuan expressed that education is the treasure of the country and the root of national prosperity. According to Chairman Sun, “Educational development shouldn’t be a common concern for all society; instead we need more responsible enterprises, social institutions, philanthropic organizations and the support of caring people. Today, all shareholders will work together to donate to the Dandelion School. This is the beginning of CMIG fulfilling its corporate social responsibility promises. We trust that with our joint efforts, a new school with a good environment, modern facilities and of high standards will soon be standing in Daxing district further benefitting the children of migrant workers. Dandelion School will surely become better and better.”
Dandelion School new campus project will be undertaken by CMIG shareholders Hongkun Real Estate Group’s as the building contractors and Tian Yuan Architectural Design Co., Ltd. of Beijing, who volunteered to design the school with a total floor space of 16,540 square meters. Work on this project will begin on 8 October 2014 and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2015. The new schools will be built to accommodate 800 students to attend and board, 100 individuals, who are training for vocational skills, as well as 80 staff members with boarding for 30 volunteer teaching staff. The government, enterprise and non-governmental organizations cooperation model used to solve social problems will effectively promote equality in education, encourages urban-rural integration and realization of communal harmony.
