CMIG Hailed as “Enterprise of Social Responsibility of the Year” by People.cn “New Era, New Responsibility and New Fulfillment”

    On Jan. 11^th, the 12^th session of “People’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award” ceremony was hosted by People.cn in New Media Building of People's Daily Press.

    At this session of award ceremony, entitled “New Era, New Responsibility and New Fulfillment”, the stories of Chinese enterprises’ responsibility were told and new opportunities and challenges facing the fulfillment of corporate social responsibility were explored during the journey of new era.

    Together with CDB, BGE, UCAR, and Guangdong Power Grid, CMIG was granted with the “Enterprise of the Year of the 12^th People’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award” for its “deep commitment to characteristic industries and innovation in mechanism for poverty alleviation”.

    The reason why CMIG won the award is elaborated by People.cn, as follows:

    Upholding the philosophy of responsible investment, CMIG continues to advance the development of programs such as greenness, environmental protection and people's livelihood. As of October 2017, it has invested nearly CNY3 billion in supporting 15 national-level poor counties in Ningxia and other 8 provinces. It has initiated the establishment of Special Fund for Compassion and Seniorcare and CMIG Seniorcare Charity Fund successively, promoted the integration of community service and charity program, and planned and developed the public activities pertinent to aging health, aging culture education, and social benefit services in 2017. It also made a donation of USD6 million to the Cambodian government to improve the school infrastructure in Cambodia in 2017.

    On behalf of CMIG, Bai Ruiping, Chairman and President of CMIG New Energy Asset Management accepted the award and gave an acceptance speech in which he said, “in the three years since its founding, CMIG has, on the basis of the responsible investment philosophy, made the forward-looking decision in deploying emerging industries closely related to the public and people's livelihood, boosted the development of characteristic industries such as new energy, home-based aged care and prefabricated building, and further moved forward the development of programs of greenness, environmental protection and people’s livelihood. By means of developing inclusive finance, financial leasing, asset management and other new financial service forms, it has been working hard to serve the development of real economy and create a new and beautiful life for all.”

    CMIG harbors a strong sense of corporate social responsibility and historical mission. In pursuit of business development, it also actively fulfills its social responsibilities, explores deeply characteristic industries, develops new mechanisms for poverty alleviation and joins various types of public welfare undertakings.

    As of the end of December last year, CMIG has invested nearly CNY3 billion in the area of poverty alleviation including industrial support. With Ningxia as a starting point, its investment flowed into 15 nation-level poor counties in 9 provinces. At the same time, its layout of new energy industry also contributed to the construction of social and ecological environment of “Beautiful China”.

    CMIG has initiated a host of public welfare of “Empathy Formula”, established a normalized public welfare mechanism for employees' participation, and set up the CMIG Running Group of Public Welfare, Public Welfare Group of Engineers, Lecturer Group of Public Welfare, Public Welfare Project of “Solar Schoolbag”, Public Welfare Project for Respecting the Elderly and other public welfare groups.

    For each running kilometer recorded by members of the Running Group, CMIG will donate a specific amount of money to public welfare programs. At each basketball game of its team, CMIG will donate 10 basketballs to a primary school in poor area.

    CMIG staff will also serve as "engineers in life": making the most of technologies to address the life difficulties of residents in neighboring communities and poverty-stricken villages; sharing illuminating knowledge or experience with children of schools in poor areas; and developing solar-powered schoolbags for children in poor areas.

    At the award presentation ceremony, the “Report of Corporate Social Responsibility of China (2017)” was released, which noted:

    "The new demands of society have given rise to the emerging industries. For instance, CMIG has been devoted to aged care industry to ride on the development trend of an aging society. CMIG Seniorcare, a subsidiary of CMIG, has implemented projects relevant to aged care in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’an and other key cities nationwide in 2017. It also worked with fund enterprises to establish special funds for supporting aged care in succession in various places. Notably, it reached strategic cooperation with China Aging Development Foundation to build the CMIG Seniorcare Charity Fund which will plan and develop the public activities pertinent to aging health, aging culture education, aging education and social benefit services. The accelerated layout of aged care industry of CMIG Seniorcare is also an embodiment of undertaking of public welfare program of social aged care.”
